Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition caused by an overactive immune system. Symptoms include flaking, inflammation, and thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. Psoriasis treatments include steroid creams, occlusion, light therapy and oral medications, such as biologics. Psoriasis is a skin disorder that causes skin cells to multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. This makes the skin build up into bumpy red patches covered with white scales. They can grow anywhere, but most appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. Psoriasis can't be passed from person to person. It does sometimes happen in members of the same family. Psoriasis usually appears in early adulthood. For most people, it affects just a few areas. In severe cases, psoriasis can cover large parts of the body. The patches can heal and then come back throughout a person's life.

How do you stop psoriasis from spreading?
1. A healthy diet. Eating a healthy diet is important for everyone, but may also help reduce psoriasis flare-ups
2. Avoid smoking and alcohol. This one may be easier said than done.
3. Protect your skin. Sunburn, cuts, and even vaccinations can trigger psoriasis.
4. Decrease stress.
5. Sleep.
6. Reconsider some medications.
7. Lotion.
