The Ultimate Guide to PRP Hair Restoration

PRP therapy uses your own blood's healing properties to stimulate dormant hair follicles. The process involves drawing a small amount of blood, spinning it to concentrate the platelets, and injecting the resulting plasma into the scalp.

How PRP Works for Hair Loss

Platelets contain growth factors including PDGF, VEGF, and TGF-beta that directly stimulate follicle cell proliferation. When injected into the scalp, these growth factors reactivate miniaturised follicles, extend the anagen (growth) phase, and increase hair shaft diameter.

Who Is a Good Candidate

PRP delivers the best results in early-stage androgenetic alopecia (Norwood 1-3 in men, Ludwig 1-2 in women) and diffuse thinning. It is less effective for complete bald patches where follicles are no longer present.

What to Expect

Most patients need 3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every 4-6 months. Noticeable improvement in shedding reduction begins at 4-6 weeks; density improvements are visible by month 3.
